You can book the campground BR13 (Marvel Lake) here: https://reservation.pc.gc.ca/Banff,KootenayandYohoBackcountry?List –> if the link doesn’t work, you just go here: https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/arrierepays-backcountry/permis-pass then click book –> permit online –> backcountry camping –> Banff, Kootenay and Yoho Backcountry (in dropdown) –> click on icon ‘in a list’. Yes I guess you’ll have to go back 😉 It is a bit of a hike to get there, but if you’re in to hiking it’s no problem at all! The hike is cool and the views are so worth it!

Hi Meaghan, I checked with the lodge, and there is NO overflow camping anymore for Lake Magog and Lake Og. So definitely use the booking system. Have fun!

Hi Meaghan, thanks for your comment. We did this hike last year and the booking system wasn’t in place yet. Thanks for letting me know, I’ll add this information to the article. Regarding the overflow camping, I’m not sure if it still exist now with this booking system. I’d recommend to get in touch with Assiniboine Lodge to clarify. I read that there are 40 campsites at Lake Magog, which seems quite a lot to me. So hopefully you’ll find a place. When we were there last year, there weren’t that many people. I guess that not everyone likes to hike the 26km in 🙂 Have fun and I hope it works out for you! If you have more info on the overflow camp, definitely let me know!
