Hey I love your blog! It really helped me decide to do Liverpool hut and provide a vision element to what I was about to experience. This is a great inspiration and I too wrote about my experience, attached below. I feel like I always want to read about the conditions of the walk before just setting off and this piece was awesome!

In reply to <a href="https://theworldisacircus.com/2017/07/liverpool-hut-new-zealand/#comment-1870">Luana</a>.

Hi Luana. Great to hear you're interested in going up to Liverpool Hut. For me the hike down went fine, but I'm quite comfortable being exposed. It's very important to always take your time, go step by step and just not rush it. You can hold on to rocks on the side and even go down on your bum if you'd like (but I don't think that's necessary). Always look where you put your feet. There a some tiny loose rocks, so make sure you don't slip. Also, the steep, exposed part isn't that long. Before you know it you'll be back in the bush, holding on to the branches and roots :) Have fun!

That's really cool information! I wonder how was it to go down in the steep part of the hike? Because climbing up is usually ok for me but my problem is going down. Do you have any advice?

In reply to <a href="https://theworldisacircus.com/2017/07/liverpool-hut-new-zealand/#comment-1449">Tammy</a>.

Hi Tammy! There are 2 options. You can either spend the night in Wanaka and drive an hour long in the morning to start the hike, or you can split your hike in two and sleep at Aspiring Hut. This way you already have done the drive and the first part of the walk on day 1 and can leave early to Liverpool Hut on day 2. We slept in Wanaka and got op early to get to the start of the hike, but if you have time it's a good idea to spend the night in Aspiring Hut. Have fun!! It's a beautiful area.

Where did you stay before heading out on the walk?
We are currently looking to do the hike next month, but are wondering where it's best to stay the night before, so we can have an early start as well!

Thanks!
